Indiana Sports Betting Bill Unanimously Passes In Senate Committee<\/h1>\nMichael Molter – Feb. 22, 2019\n

\"IndianaDuring the Indiana Senate Appropriations Committee meeting, Senators unanimously voted in favor of Senate Bill 552.<\/p>\n

SB 552<\/a> would legalize sports wagering at riverboats, racinos, satellite facilities, and through a mobile betting platform. It is authored by Senators Mark Messmer (R- Jasper) and Jon Ford (R- Terre Haute) and co-authored by three other Indiana Senators who represent both sides of the political spectrum.<\/p>\n

The bill will now move back to the Senate chamber along with Senate Bill 66<\/a> which also advanced with a unanimous vote out of the Appropriations Committee on Thursday.<\/p>\n

The possibility still exists that these two bills will become one piece of legislation before the Senate votes.<\/p>\n

The bills are most likely to be discussed as early as next Tuesday, which is the deadline for proposals to be approved and passed to the House.<\/p>\n

The session ends April 29, which gives the Senators ample time to discuss any potential changes and finalize the regulations for sports betting in Indiana<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Any details on the tax structure can also be determined in the House chamber if it is approved by the Senate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
